Christmas Day
Santa brought a bunch of goodies for the boys. Then it was off to G-pa's in the burg where more gifts were opened, and we had a lovely dinner with my folks, and Joe's cousin Anne visiting from England and her mom Cathy. We had a nice relaxing time. On Sunday we finally made the trip up to Manty for the final blast of Christmas insanity, and unfortunately forgot to take pictures.
A Christmas Eve to Remember
On Christmas Eve this year, we were supposed to visit family in Manty. Instead what happened was a funny burning plastic, melting crayon smell around 11:30 am, and after a few phone calls and some freaking out we realized that the motor on our heating system was shot.
The poor on-call repair man was doing his Christmas shopping when he got our page, and on his way to our house his truck went into the ditch! Five hours later when he finally arrived to fix the machine, the temp had only dropped to 65; a Christmas miracle! A space heater and a failed attempt at a fire in the fireplace with somewhat wet wood brought her up one degree before we were back in operating order.
The day was saved just in time for an extravagant Eve dinner of Kielbasa and French Fries...yum! And we were toasty warm as we laid out a plate of freshly baked cookies and a tall glass of milk for Santa.
